The world is watching the rise of Google data platform, and one of the companies that has been working on data-driven learning at universities is Oxford University.
The company’s research is aimed at creating courses that use data to make learning more interactive.
Its new online education platform, Oxford DataLab, was launched last year, and is part of Google Ventures’ $1 billion investment in the company.
The platform allows users to access courses from a variety of sources, including university and non-university sources, and to upload, manage, and search courses, according to Oxford Data Labs website.
“With a growing number of students looking to learn new technologies through data, we have a new way to engage them,” said Nick Kornbluth, director of digital and research at Oxford.
“Students can access content from across the world, with the option to browse through data sources as they wish.”‘
We’re doing something right’The platform also includes a section for teachers to upload their own data to help students learn, and it’s been praised by academics and students alike for its potential to make teaching more interactive and interesting.
“I think it’s fantastic that the company is making a difference in the way we teach,” said Clare Collins, chief executive officer of the National University of Ireland, where the project is based.
“We’re trying to make it more interactive, and that’s something that will continue to grow.”
It’s really good for students, and students need a lot more resources to learn from.
“Teaching in the digital ageOne of the biggest challenges for educators is the rise in student workload, as more students seek to learn and more schools are looking to hire.
The number of people teaching is also rising, which means there are more opportunities for teachers.”
This is a great time for teaching, particularly at the university level, because we’ve seen the demand for more resources,” said Professor Katherine Crampton, principal of the Department of Education at Trinity College Dublin.”
Teachers are looking for different ways of learning, but with data it makes it easy to track and to understand the students learning.
“Professor Collins said the ability to manage and search through the data was also a big part of the solution.”
If you want to go back and look at the previous year’s data, there are a lot of data sets you can use,” she said.”
You can look at student performance, you can look through student profiles.
“So it’s great for students.”
Dr Collins said it was important to keep in mind that students were learning online in different ways.
“The students are getting their own information, so there’s a lot to be done to make sure that they’re having a good experience online, but also make sure there’s content that’s relevant to the content they’re learning,” she added.
“That’s what we want to do.”
Data is the future.
“More data, more data’Oxford DataLab is set to roll out data-centric courses across all three academic disciplines in 2019, including computer science, maths and engineering.”
When students are learning from the same content in the same format, they’re very likely to have a good time,” said Dr Collins.”
There’s a good opportunity for data to become a very powerful tool for teaching.
“She said it could be that students would have a greater opportunity to work together online, and this could increase student retention.”
For example, if you can have students who want to study with a partner or go on a study trip together, they may be less likely to come back,” she explained.”
In this case, it’s much better to have an environment where the student can come back together after they’ve gone and had a great experience.
“A year after its launch, Oxford dataLab has been in the process of building out its website and making its data available for use by students, teachers and faculty.”
Over the last year we’ve really done a lot, and the site has been very good, so we’re looking forward to the launch of a second generation,” said Kornbuth.”
Now we want our students to know they can find out more about the technology they’re using, and how it can help them to be successful in their academic careers.
