The US has been home to some of the world’s most prestigious universities, including the University of Texas, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University in London.

But many of them have been criticised for high costs and poor academic quality.

Here are our picks for the best American universities.

Texas A&M University – US state champion Since founding in 1867, the University at Austin has been the flagship university of the state.

Since becoming the nation’s second-largest university in 2019, the university has been a champion of academic excellence.

Its alumni include some of US President Donald Trump’s most important advisers, including Education Secretary Betsy DeVos.

But it has also faced criticism for the high cost of living in the state, and its alumni, including US Vice President Mike Pence, have been forced to make personal donations to charity.
